On October 25th., the 33rd China Chefs Festival and the 2024 China Chefs Festival Expo grandly opened at the Yibin International Convention and Exhibition Center in Sichuan. Our school, as a partner and supporting institution for this year's festival, actively participated in the preparation and execution of this grand event.
Joining Hands to Build the Event Together
On October 22, 2023, during the "32nd China Chefs Festival," the China Cuisine Association extended a sincere invitation to various parties. As a leader in culinary education, our school is committed to playing a role in talent cultivation and industry exchange. Since then, our school has embarked on a close collaboration with the China Cuisine Association. During the preparation of the 33rd China Chefs Festival, the school and the association engaged in multiple rounds of dialogue and exchanges to jointly refine the event participation arrangements. Additionally, the school actively communicated with local government to ensure the smooth progress of the event.
Volunteer Spirit and Service Excellence
At the event site, more than 150 student and teacher volunteers from our school were active in every corner. They warmly guided guests during receptions and provided professional and attentive service at the venues and competition sites. Their contributions received high recognition from the organizer, the China Cuisine Association, and showcased the elegance of our students and the results of our "integration of industry and education" teaching model through their actions.
Culinary Competition and Glorious Gold
In the 2024 Western Cuisine Cooking Skills Competition, the teaching team from our School of Modern Hospitality Management competed alongside domestic and international industry contestants. Facing high-level competitors and a fierce competition environment, our team excelled in multiple categories, including Western soups, seafood main dishes, desserts, meat main dishes, appetizers, and so on, ultimately winning 2 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze awards. This achievement not only demonstrated the teachers' professional expertise and innovative abilities in culinary education but also served as a powerful testament to the effectiveness of our "integration of industry and education" teaching model.
Judging Experience and Wisdom Inheritance
Moreover, at the invitation of the Culinary Association, the school recommended outstanding young teachers to participate as assistant judges in national competitions such as the "National Golden Chef Dish Exchange Competition," "National Western Cuisine Competition," "Group Meal Cooking Competition," and "Restaurant Service Competition." Through these national events, the teachers gained valuable judging experience, bringing new perspectives and inspiration to the school's teaching and research work.
Practical Teaching and Outcome Validation
In his speech, Yang Liu, president of the China Cuisine Association, stated that since its inception in 1991, the China Chefs Festival has become one of the most influential brand events in China's catering industry. It serves not only as a platform for showcasing culinary skills and exchanging techniques but also as an important carrier for inheriting Chinese culinary culture and promoting craftsmanship spirit. Through a variety of activities, this year's Chefs Festival demonstrated the development achievements of China's catering industry and promoted the international expression of Chinese culinary culture. Our school's comprehensive participation as a cooperative unit and supporting institution marks the beginning of deeper exchanges and cooperation with the association in various aspects, such as cultivating high-quality culinary talents. It also validates the school's commitment to in-depth research on industry needs and the development of innovative talent cultivation models.
During the festival, several institutions from Jiangsu, Hebei, and other regions visited the Yibin campus of our school for inspections and exchanges, exploring new models for cultivating talents in cooking, catering, and hospitality. In the future, Gingko College hopes to collaborate with the China Cuisine Association and catering enterprises to cultivate more high-quality talents who can apply their learning in practice, thereby contributing to the high-quality development of China's catering industry and bringing Gingko's wisdom and strength to global culinary culture.
