Gingko Students Won 1st prize in the provincial final of the National College Students' English Competition

On 19th May, the final of the National English Contest for College Students was held in Sichuan. Luo Xiaofeng and Deng Xinyue from the School of Foreign Languages, Wang Zixi and Sun Weidi from the School of Financial Management represented our university to participate in the final of the Sichuan Competition, and finally won two first prizes in the B category and two first prizes in C category.

It is reported that the National English Contest for College Students (NECCS) is a large-scale national English comprehensive ability competition for college students in China with a large number of participants, which is jointly organised by the Steering Committee for the Teaching of College Foreign Languages in Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education and the Research Society for the Teaching of College Foreign Languages in Higher Education, and it has been held for twenty-six years successively so far. With the continuous development of China's university English teaching reform, the competition has received more and more attention from colleges and universities and college students, and its participation results and award certificates are an important basis for students to take examinations for graduate schools, to study abroad, to continue their studies and to be given priority in employment.

The College of Foreign Languages attaches great importance to this competition, and has actively organised several activities such as preparation for the preliminary round and counselling for the rematch at the beginning of March, and equipped the finalists with instructors and provided them with all-round personalised guidance. This achievement demonstrates the effectiveness of our university's English teaching reform. In recent years, the School of Foreign Languages has set up the "High-level Competition Team", taking authoritative foreign language events as the key, aiming at the cultivation of students' comprehensive English ability, continuously promoting the cultivation mode of "promoting teaching with competitions, promoting learning with competitions, and integrating competitions and learning", comprehensively improving the comprehensive language literacy, and enhancing the English teaching in the school. We will continue to promote the training mode of "promoting teaching by competition, promoting learning by competition, and integrating competition and learning", comprehensively improve the comprehensive language quality, enhance the overall level of English teaching in the college, and strive to achieve good results in various English competitions.
