Colorful Gingko

On June 17, 2019, teachers and students majoring in the Environmental Art went to Dashaping Village, Mahu Township, Leibo County to carry out poverty alleviation work in the form of cultural and artistic support, where they painted wall pictures for the children in the kindergarten.

Two key links affect the formation of painting art. First, the "extraction & purification" of colors. The art of painting would not exist without the extraction and purification of pigments from the nature. Second, the process of applying colors to painting, namely the "modulation" of colors.

This wonderful world, though rich and colorful, cannot generate many colors unless through modulation of different pigments. The more the pigments are modulated, the more vivid the painting will be. The process of color modulation is a process for life to experience, to accumulate experience, and to develop innovatively. Extraction & purification is a precondition for modulation, the higher the extraction quality is, the higher degree of freedom for modulation will be.

The philosophy of "independent spirit and free thought" proposed by Chen Yinque should be the academic spirit and value that we pursue, as it emphasizes the importance of digesting the knowledge we acquired from the books, journeys and others into our own and develop our unique views, principles, styles and inspirations. So, it necessary for all the departments of the College to develop their distinctive characteristics.

Hence, on the basis of the respective characteristics of all departments, the College pooled the wisdom and efforts of the teachers and students of each department, so that a unique "symbolic color" of each department has come into being after "extraction & purification", forming a basic color system that is composed of cobalt blue for hospitality management, green for tourism management, sky blue for financial management, violet for business administration, gray for foreign languages, gold for art and design, yellow for leisure sports, and red for information engineering management.

Upholding the value of being dignified, elegant, sensible and prudent, students of the Department of Hospitality Management wish to realize all-round development on the international platform and become the pacesetter in the industry of hospitality management. Therefore, they chose the cobalt blue, which represents a sense of internationalization, as the symbolic color of the Department. The "cobalt blue" retains the purity of blue and at the same time adds a dip of strong color, a color full of dreams, confidence and infinite longing, which implies the quality of being strong, brave, kind and merciful.

Students of the Department of Tourism Management hold respect for nature, passion for folk customs and cultures, and love for life and freedom, and show great vitality, so they chose the jungle green. "Green" is a sign of vitality endowed by the earth, a natural color of the mountains, and the manifestation of vital force.

Being honest, pragmatic, cool-headed, aspirant and righteous, students of the Department of Financial Management leave us an impression of peacefulness, freshness, leisureliness and sureness, so their symbolic color is sky blue. "Sky blue" symbolizes the broadness, inclusiveness, peacefulness and leisureliness represented by the sky.

Students of the Department of Business Administration are smart, agile, cool-minded and diligent in exploring in their field, so they chose violet that is composed of intelligent red and calm blue as their symbolic color. "Violet" stands for calmness, humbleness, freshness, aestheticism and stylishness, and perfectly integrates motion with stillness, therefore is a feast to the eye.

Students of the Department of Foreign Languages chose silver gray as their symbolic color, as it represents vitality, fashion, openness, boldness and modernness. "Gray" symbolizes the modern civilization and leaves us an impression of fashion, health and high efficiency as well as a strong sense of modernness.

Being brave in exploration and with endless creativity, students of the Department of Art and Design chose gold as their symbolic color, indicating a bright and glorious future. "Gold" stands for dignity, glory and luxury, bringing the sense of infinity.

With the passion for sports and health and always being optimistic and energetic, apricot yellow was chosen by the students of the Department of Leisure Sports. "Yellow", the most beautiful color of gingko, represents brightness, optimism, positiveness and warmness.

With the standard color of bright red, students of the Department of Information Engineering Management are full of vitality, solidarity, passion and positivity. "Red" symbolizes ideal and faith, and represents passion, struggling, positivity, and aggressiveness.

To draw a beautiful blueprint of the future of the College, the purified "colors" of all departments need to be further modulated under the principle of seizing key links. Only by modulating richer colors more meticulously, can it be uniquely stylish and impressive.
