2021 New Year Message

2020 is a special year. The first one is that all the teachers, students and staff are united and to withstand the test of the COVID-19; the second is that with the full support of the Education Department, the organizer and the joint efforts of everyone, the College was successfully transferred to Ginkgo College of Hospitality Management, which means we have truly opened the era of Independent College running; the third is the official opening of the new campus and teaching hotel in Yibin, marking that we have entered a new development stage of "one school, two districts".

In this special year, the Board of Directors of the College and the Party and Government Leadership team led everyone to jointly start the "Ginkgo New Process". Various tasks were carried out in a busy, orderly, stable and effective manner, achieving staged results in epidemic prevention and control, and promoting the College to enter a new era. 

In this year, the COVID-19 broke out all of a sudden, and the whole country entered an extraordinary war "epidemic" mode. All departments of the College moved quickly, and the managers and related employees of all departments stuck to their posts worked hard and did a lot of meticulous work. Under the coordination of the College, each teaching department started online teaching on the original start date of the 2020 spring semester to ensure that teachers teach online and students learn online. The Ministry of Education has successfully implemented the "suspended classes without suspension" claim during the epidemic prevention and control period. 

In this year, we successfully held the 18th anniversary of the establishment of the College and the successful transfer on the cloud. We received Mr Richard Adie, Dean of the School of Hotel and Tourism Management, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and former General Manager of Statler Teaching Hotel, Cornell University. And Swiss Hotel Management Education Group, Chiang Mai University in Thailand, Chengdu University of Information Technology, Xihua University, Xichang College, Sichuan University of Light Chemical Technology, Sichuan Normal University, Chengdu Neusoft College, Chengdu Art Vocational University and other domestic and foreign counterparts, Chengdu JW Marriott Hotel, Chengdu Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Chengdu Temple House Hotel, BTG Home Inn, Chengdu Jinhe Hotel and other well-known hotel companies, Sichuan Education Accounting Association and other societies, cooperative enterprises (institutions), and experts and scholars in related fields Alumni rushed to congratulate.

In this year, the College added 1 provincial-level first-class undergraduate major construction site (the total number has reached 3), established two provincial-level first-class provincial-level undergraduate courses, and established two provincial-level "curriculum ideological and political" projects. The Yibin Campus has put into teaching and promoted the overall innovation of the training model. "Modern Service Industry Applied Talent Cultivation Reform and Practice", "Four-level and Three-Dimensional-Hotel Management Talent Cultivation Model and Practice Leading by Industry Demands" also won the third prize of "Teaching Achievement Award" from Sichuan Private Education Association.

In this year, the young teachers of the College were once again approved to establish the National Social Science Fund project, marking the further improvement of the College's overall scientific research ability and level. The two research results completed by the teachers of the College won the first and second prizes of the "Excellent Scientific Research Achievement Award" of the Sichuan Private Education Association. International academic exchanges have shifted from offline to the cloud on a large scale. And much innovative research work has been effectively carried out in the hotel and tourism fields. A number of high-quality scientific research results have been obtained and applied, which has continuously improved the College's ability to serve the industry and regional development.

In this year, the students won 1 gold award and 2 silver awards in the 6th Sichuan International "Internet+" College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, and the total score ranked first in the province's private universities. Meanwhile, they won 7 bronze prizes of 2020 "Challenge Cup" in the Sichuan University Student Entrepreneurship Plan Competition; the design works of five students from the Department of Art and Design won the "Design War'Pandemic' Work Award" and were published in the Design magazine. Nearly one hundred students have been admitted to the University of Nottingham, the University of Hong Kong, Sichuan University and other well-known universities at home and abroad to study for a master's degree.

In this year, the College’s internationalization process has been on the right track, and the strategies, publicity, teaching, scientific research, and academic work internationalization have been launched in an all-round way. The international exchange and cooperation projects of our college have developed in-depth and characteristic. The“Chengdu Ginkgo College of Hospitality Management and the School of Hotel and Tourism Management of Prince of Songkhla University in Thailand jointly cultivate MBA graduate students” officially launched, creating a precedent for private colleges in this field to jointly train graduate students with foreign high-quality universities, and forming a graduate tutor echelon, and it Innovated the training mode of a seamless connection between undergraduate and master courses.

This year, the College accelerated the pace of professional/disciplinary integration in the field of hotel and tourism and achieved a certain degree of recognition in teacher development, teaching reform, scientific research innovation, practice platform, and college-enterprise cooperation.

In this year, we were also elected as the vice-chairman unit of the Collaborative Development Alliance of University Employment and Entrepreneurship in the Chengdu-Chongqing Double City Economic Circle, and won the "2020 Brand Influence Private Colleges" and "2020 Yearly Honorary titles such as the “Strength Benchmarking Private Colleges and Universities” and the“National Model College for Entrepreneurship and Employment in 2020”.

The coming 2021 is the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party and the first year of the 14th Five-Year Plan. We will thoroughly implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on education, adhere to the direction of socialist education, and implement the fundamental task of Lide Shuren. In addition, we will develop the new concept, actively integrate into the new development pattern, and continue to uphold the school-running philosophy of "achieve students and serve the society", following the College Motto of "Service Development, Knowledge and Action", and continuing to condense and highlight the construction of "school spirit, teaching style, and style of study" "Ginkgo spirit", to inject a steady stream of spiritual power into the development of the college's characteristics.
