Volunteers of Gingko College Participate in Yibin Countryside Half Marathon Event

On 19th May, the national "Harmonious Countryside Health Run" and Yibin Countryside Half Marathon started in the Happy Field of Nanxi District, Yibin City, Sichuan Province. The Youth League Committee of the university organised volunteer recruitment and selected 200 student volunteers to participate in the event to serve the local community and dedicate their youthful strength.

Before the race, 200 volunteers underwent a three-day training to fully understand the venue and familiarise themselves with the division of labour; on the eve of the race, they completed the collation of materials and sorting of finishers' bags. The sky was dark at 4 a.m., but the hearts of the volunteers were hot.

On the day of the race, the volunteers arrived at their posts early, and they quietly devoted themselves to several posts such as entrance/exit management, small ticket printing manual service, race counselling, number bib collection, etiquette service, etc., and provided timely supplies and help for the runners, and made them feel the care and support with smiles and enthusiasm.

Volunteers have said that this is a very monumental event. "We saw the athletes who were passionate and positively moving forward, as well as the staff who were busy for this race. Having been involved first-hand, we appreciate even more the importance of teamwork at a big event."

The hard work of our volunteers was highly praised by the organisers and the athletes. The event not only highlights the youthful style of Ginkgo students, allows students to get exercise and practice, but also promotes the exchange and cooperation between the school and the local community.
