Talents Gather in Gingko · Innovation & Entrepreneurship Lead to the Future - 2019

On December 12, the 2019 "Gingko Cup" Tourism & Hotel + Innovation & Entrepreneurship for College Students in Sichuan Province, co-organized by the Sichuan Education Foundation and the College, was grandly held in the multi-function hall of the College, which attracted 22 projects brought by 19 colleges and universities, including Sichuan Normal University, Chengdu University of Information Technology and Xihua University. This event received great support from Sichuan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, The Education Department of Sichuan Province, Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Sichuan Province, Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League and relevant departments of Chengdu Municipality. Leaders and guests from other institutions, including Lu Feng, second-level inspector of Sichuan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, Di Zhijun, vice chairman and secretary-general of Sichuan Education Foundation, Ma Yinjun, director of Sichuan Provincial Higher Education Student Information and Career Center, Li Hao, deputy director of Students' Affairs Office of the Education Department of Sichuan Province, Gao Bo, from Higher Education Office of the Education Department of Sichuan Province, Tan Xiaoxue, from Sichuan Education Foundation, Huang Chunsheng, director of Sichuan Provincial Career Training Center (Sichuan Provincial Entrepreneurship Service Center), Yuan Yong, director of Entrepreneurship Service Office of Sichuan Provincial Career Service Management Bureau, Zeng Zhigang and Liu Yang, former deputy director and fourth-level investigator of the Employment Promotion Office of Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Sichuan Province respectively, Huang Shulang, director of School and College Department of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League, Xie Feng and Xie Song, deputy secretary of and deputy director of the School and College Department of Chengdu Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League respectively, He Bin, deputy secretary of Party Committee of Chengdu Municipal Career Service Management Bureau, Liu Juan and Wang Junyan, deputy director of Maker Service Department and from Investment Promotion Department of Pidu Innovation and Entrepreneurship Management Committee, Jia Ren, vice president of A Ba Teachers University, Yang Yang, secretary of Party Committee of School of Tourism and Culture Industry of Chengdu University, Wu Zhenmin, director of Training Department of Borun Education Research Institute, and leaders and guests from Yinxing Hospitality Management College of Chengdu University of Information Technology, including President Li Ming, Sang Zuoyin, deputy secretary of the Party Committee, Executive Vice President Yu Yuan, Gong Yan, deputy secretary of the Party Committee, secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission and chairman of the Labor Union, Vice President Wei Zhao, Yi Xianwen, Fu Jing, and Yuan Ding, Huang Fang and Chen Bo, the assistant of the president, Li Jingjing, the assistant of the chairman of the College, attended the opening ceremony.

President Li Ming, on the behalf of the College, first delivered a speech to welcome the presence of all the leaders, experts, as well as teachers and students participating in the competition, and gave an introduction to the background and purpose of carrying out this event. He said that this event combined the school-running advantages of the College in the tourism & hotel field and integrated the practical issues of the industry closely with the needs for innovation and entrepreneurship, in an effort to focus on the "tourism & hotel+" innovation and entrepreneurship sector, form new momentum, and create a new ecology in the industry, with the characteristics of multi-industrial fusion and intensified innovation and creation. He added that the College would further focus on meeting the requirements for development of the tourism & hotel industry, continue to deepen the reform in education and teaching, and continue to carry out "Gingko Cup" activities and expand its influences. And he hoped that the "Gingko Cup" would contribute more to the cultivation of talents for the development of the hospitality industry.

Speech by President Li Ming

Di Zhijun, chairman and secretary-general of Sichuan Education Foundation expressed that to carry out innovation and entrepreneurship education is not only the need of the national innovation-driven development strategy, but also the need of improving the quality of talent cultivation in higher education. This event perfectly met the practical needs for innovation in the hotel and tourism industry, which was conductive to the sustainable development of the industry. 

Speech by Di Zhijun, Chairman and Secretary-General of Sichuan Education Foundation

Following the speeches, the mentor employment ceremony of the 2019 "Gingko" Cup Tourism & Hotel + Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition was carried out. Six experts from China Agricultural University (CAU), including Associate Professor Hou Biao, were hired as judges and mentors, nine persons from the industry, including Zhou Kai, artistic consultant of Chengdu Culture and Art Communication Co., Ltd., and seven persons from colleges and universities, including Li Qiang, deputy secretary of Chinese Communist Youth League Committee of Sichuan Normal University, were hired as guest mentors.

The competition was conducted at the street, where 22 innovation & entrepreneurship projects of the tourism & hotel category brought by colleges and universities in Sichuan were presented successively. With the understanding and comprehension of the tourism & hotel industry, the students presented their innovation & entrepreneurship achievements with confidence and enthusiasm, winning constant applause from the guests, teachers and other students at the scene.

In the end, the "New Identity of Hotel AI" project brought by the student of our College won the first prize after obtaining general consent of all judges at the spot. Through competition, one first prize, three second prizes, five third prizes, six awards for excellence, and fifteen awards for best organization finally came out.

Awarding Ceremony

Li Songwei, one of the participants of our College said, "Now we have a better understanding of the future of the tourism and hotel industry, and I've learned how to combine our professional theories to form effective solutions for the market". Zhang Yi, another participant from A Ba Teachers University said, "It's an experience I'll never forget, and I've benefited a lot from the competition, because I learned, experienced, and felt a sense of accomplishment in this process".
